The main purpose of thermal shielding is to protect the premises from the cold air coming through the open apertures (gates, doors, Windows). This can significantly reduce the building's heat loss when opening doors and gates-up to 80 %. In the warmer months of the veil without a heat source creates a barrier to the outside air in the openings, the air-conditioned rooms and freezers.
The veil has a body made from sheet steel with high-quality conductive polymer coating. Inside are the heater (electric, water, or gas), fan, nozzle for exit of the jet. The fan sucks air from the room, the air flow is heated in the heater and is ejected through the nozzle in a jet in the plane of the opening or at an angle thereto.
Curtains are installed horizontally above the opening or vertically on the side of the doorway (one - way). As a rule, the stream flowing out of the veil, must have a magnitude equal to the width or height of the opening. Therefore, the most important of the dimensions of the veil is its length. If the size of an aperture along which sets the veil, is greater than the length of the veil, then rank multiple adjacent to each other veils, covering a total length of the side opening.
In its functioning thermal curtains are divided into three types:

- With water heating
- Without heating.
