Silicone rubber is an elastic material obtained on the basis of high-molecular organosilicon compounds and appearance resembling synthetic or conventional natural rubber. However, due to its special chemical structure it is distinguished by a number of properties that allow it to occupy a special place among rubber elastic materials:
The basic structure of silicone rubber, unlike conventional types of rubber, is a chain of atoms of silicon and oxygen with a rare cross-linkers. This circumstance is due to its inherent, to some extent, inorganic in nature.
Silicone rubber is resistant to low pressure (vacuum), radiation, electric fields, electric corona and arc. At temperatures above +100°C they are superior in insulating properties of all traditional elastomers. Even when burned insulation of silicone rubber remains non-conductive layer of SiO2, which provides more reliable protection of the electronics.Temperature resistance is the most frequently used property of silicone rubber. If we consider the rubber on the basis of General purpose rubbers, none of them can be continuously operated at temperatures above 150°C. is Most similar to silicone elastomers only rubber-based rubber compound.
Normal operating temperature silicone rubber 180-200°C, but briefly they can be used at higher temperatures.The following is the approximate lifetime of the silicone rubber at different temperatures:
-50°C - +100°C..... unlimited;
+120°C............... 10-20 years;
+150°C............... 5-10 years;
+205°C............... 2-5 years;
+260°C............... 3 months - 2 years;
+316°C............... 1 week - 2 months;
+370°C............... 6 hours - 1 week;
+420°C............... 10 minutes - 2 hours;
+480°C............... 2-10 mine
Silicone rubber, having anti-adhesive properties, it is difficult glued to itself and to other materials. Conventional adhesives are not suitable for this. Therefore, we have developed special primers and adhesives, silicone-based, which provide sufficient bonding effect.
