On its obverse depicts Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826,) is a prominent state and public figure, the "father" of the Declaration of independence and 3rd President of the United States.
On the flip its side depicts the adoption of the Declaration of independence. This figure is a reproduction of the painting of the famous American artist J. Trumbull "the Signing of the Declaration of independence - one of the eight huge canvases hanging in the rotunda of the Capitol. It depicted the meeting of the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which declared the separation of 13 North American colonies from great Britain. The painting depicts the moment when Jefferson along with four other members of the Committee to prepare the Declaration of independence transmits the draft Declaration to the President of the Continental Congress Hancock for signature (sitting in the chair on the right).
