Tin oxide(II) in most cases is used as a starting product in the production of other, generally divalent, compounds of tin. Can also be used as a reducing agent and in the creation of ruby glass. In small quantities is used as etherification catalyst.
Oxide of cerium(III) oxide tin(II) is used in lighting devices such as phosphor.
