Whether changing the worn-out steel gravity for a new one? Answer — not worth it. There is an alternative: the lining of worn-out gravity with polyurethane. It's cheaper, more profitable and much safer!
Let's look at the experience of our Customers, exploiting gravity, lined with polyurethane.
The use of steel runs dry grain (especially corn and barley) very quickly rubs the walls of the sectors, passages and pipes. Replacement of worn-out gravity require large material and time costs. Therefore, as a rule, repair is the fastest and most available means: garter rubber, canvas or welding metal patches in places spillage of grain. And, depending on the service life, we have to one hundred percent of gravity, closed on the outside with patches and garters.

But what we leave inside? And inside we leave the cascades well-sharpened knives, chopping anything that moves towards them. Of course, due to the crushing and injury of grain increased losses and reduced grade product. As a result, the elevators carry millions in damages.
As a solution to this problem, our company was offered a lining (protection) polyurethane wear surfaces of the equipment.
The unique properties of polyurethane can reduce the cost of operation of gravity and increase the profit derived from the sale of grain products:
• elasticity and firmness of the polyurethane protects the grain transported by lined the gravity from the injuries, this reduces the loss of grains from the crushing, and as a result increases the grade of product shipped;
• abrasion-resistant polyurethane protects the walls of the gravity from wear, significantly increasing their lifespan,
• produces less dust, and reduces noise;
• large operating temperature range of operation of polyurethane (from 60°C to + 150°C) allows its use in any climatic conditions;
• high water resistance and chemical resistance of polyurethane to protect the inner surface of gravity from corrosion;
• environment-friendly polyurethane allows it to be used even for potable water storage.
The specialists of ZEO Sokol developed various methods of lining of gravity:
• the gluing of the polyurethane sheets of different thickness and dimensions on the inner surface;
• install polyurethane bushings in a worn and new gravity;
• combined methods of lining.

For example, PJSC "Belovodskoe CCP" gravity line for the shipment of dried corn lined sheets of our production, have worked for five years.
During this time, through the gravity it took about 1300,0 thousand tons of corn, wear on the surface of the polyurethane sheets is not observed!!!
On lined lines no spillage of grain, reduced the amount of dust, and most importantly – the grain does not lose its quality during transportation
We will note the main advantages of polyurethane lined runs.
First, the elements of gravity, lined with polyurethane, are ten times longer than steel;
Secondly, the cost of the repair and maintenance of gravity of the equipment is reduced several times and virtually eliminated downtime.
Third, we obtain a significant profit by reducing losses and increasing the grade of the grain:
• the cost of implementation is corn of the third class at the linear elevators in Ukraine is 162-165 USD.
• the cost of implementing cool is corn equals 156 — $ 160;
• in the processing and shipment of corn if you use gravity, lined with polyurethane, the output is not cool corn down three percent;
• loss of grain during processing and shipment of corn drop by 0.5 percent.
It is easy to calculate that for every one hundred thousand tons of shipped corn yield extra profit 18 000 — 20 000,0 USD.
The diversity of technical solutions on piping elevators the gravity does not allow to accurately calculate the cost of lining all the problem of wear gravity, but the experience of our Customers using the lining polyurethane, allows us to state the following fact: the cost of a liner gravity fed systems not only pay for itself in one season, but yield substantial profits.
Let's calculate what it would cost the lining of gravity.
Consider specific areas of the lining of the gravity of our Clients.
In the piping of the two dryers gravity involved the following equipment:
1. Steel pipe Ø 300, wall thickness 3.5 mm, length 2 m = 24 PCs.
2. Sector steel Ø 300, 45°= 16 PCs.
3. The transition of the square — round Ø 300 = 12 PCs.
In the process of exploitation (the capacity of each of the dryers is 600 – 900 MT of corn per day) sector wiped for two weeks, and at the end of season lines require complete replacement of the gravity equipment.
Compare the cost of replacing worn steel, the new steel gravity gravity and the cost of restoration of worn-runs the method of their lining with polyurethane.
