Aqueous ammonia 25% analytical grade, GOST 3760-79 (ammonia water,
the hydrate of ammonia, ammonium hydroxide, contains 20.5% nitrogen, nitrogen fertilizer, NH3-H2O).
Clear, colorless or yellowish liquid with a pungent odor, well
soluble in water, alcohol and some other organic solvents.
Synthesized from nitrogen and hydrogen. In nature, formed during the decomposition of nitrogen-containing
of organic compounds. Used for the production of nitrogen fertilizers (nitrate and
ammonium sulfate, urea), explosives and polymers, nitric acid,
(as an ammonia method) and other products of the chemical industry. Weak
(usually 10%) solution is ammonia. Liquid ammonia is used as
the solvent. In refrigeration is used as a refrigerant
(R717). In agriculture is used as a fertilizer: 40-60 kg/ha under
cereals, 60-90 kg/ha under commercial crops, 50-70 kg/ha under
vegetable crops (up to a depth of 10-18 cm) Ammonia has no negative
action on food products with a short-term impact

Ammonia burns when the content in
the air about 11 to 14%, and condensation 16-28% mixture of ammonia with air
becomes explosive. In the presence of moisture, ammonia destroys copper, zinc,
bronze and other alloys of copper, with the exception of phosphor bronze. Black
metals and aluminum, it is not active. In water, ammonia is highly soluble in oil
- bad.
