MBS and TMCs- (P). - the General name of a group of materials obtained vulcanized rubber. Technical R. - the product of vulcanization of rubber plates , containing from 5-6 to 15-20 different ingredients that facilitate the processing of rubber and gives the product the desired performance properties. The most important ingredients such as vulcanizing agents (mostly sulfur), accelerators and vulcanization activators, fillers, plasticizers, stabilizers, colorants and so forth. The fillers used mainly various finely dispersed substances, such as carbon black (soot), kaolin, talc, silica, as well as fabrics, corduroy, based on synthetic or metallic fibers. Feature R. - their high elasticity in a wide temperature range. With the exception of the ebonite (hard R.) products, which is obtained by vulcanization of rubbers large quantities of sulphur (up to 50%).
R. has a number of valuable properties, leading to their widespread use in aircraft construction: shock-absorbing and sealing ability, wear resistance, fatigue endurance, electrical insulating properties, gas - and water-resistant, R. some, in addition, the resistance under the action of liquid fuels, oils, various aggressive media (acids, alkalis, etc.). The ebonite are characterized by high chemical resistance and durability when operating in extreme environmental conditions (for example, when exposed to the tropical climate), high mechanical strength, electrical insulating properties.
