The instrument measures the elasticity, strength of coatings under bending around a set of cylindrical rods with diameters of cores from 1 mm to 20 mm
The device complies with GOST R 52740-2007, GOST 6806-73 and ISO 1519-73 apply to paints and establishes a method for determining the elasticity of the film in bending.
The method consists in determining the minimum diameter of the metallic cylindrical rod, the bending of which painted metal plate does not cause mechanical destruction or exfoliation of single-layer or multi-layer paint film.
The use of the device
The device BENDING WD is designed to determine the elasticity, durability of paint film deposited on a metal plate, bending it around the cylinder by the method GOST 6806-73, ISO 1519 (DIN 53 152).
Samples for testing prepare according to GOST 8832-76, unless otherwise specified in the normative-technical documentation on the subject of paint material.
For testing coatings recommends the use of sheet metal.
The sheet should have a smooth surface without shells, rusty spots, delamination and dirt.
Samples for testing are plates of rectangular shape with a length of 100 - 150 mm, a width of 20 to 50 mm, made of black polished tin with a thickness of 0.25 - 0.32 mm, or from aluminum sheets and strips according to GOST 21631-76, GOST 13726-78 thickness of 0.25 - 0.30 mm coated with a single layer or multi-layer paint film.
Use plates of other material, if it is specified in the normative-technical documentation on the paint material.
The method of coating, film thickness, number of layers, the conditions and time of drying, and exposure of the film before the test should be specified in the normative-technical documentation on the tested material.
Samples before the test stand to the conditions specified in the normative-technical documentation on the paint material.
The time and degree of drying is determined according to GOST 19007-73.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the thickness of the investigated paint film deposited on the plate.
The plate is placed on the rod with the largest diameter (20 mm) coating outside and, pressing firmly to the rod, a smooth curve within 1 to 2 with 180° around the rod.
The floor in the place of bending considered magnifier with 4x magnification for cracks and exfoliation.
If these defects are present, produce bending of the plate every time at a different place sequentially from a rod with a larger diameter to a smaller, until, until you have found the above defects.
If normative-technical documentation on the paint material is provided by the value of the elasticity (bar diameter), then the test is carried out using a rod only such diameter.
For the tests take a minimum diameter in millimeters, when the bending of the sample on which the test film remained intact.
The estimation of the elasticity of the film when bending a metal rod is performed after testing the three plates on the same rod.
