Petrolatum - product of the distillation of crude oil contains a mixture of
paraffin and ceresin; light brown waxy mass has a temperature of
dropping 50-60 °C and flash 260-280 °C.
Petrolatum is not soluble in water and not mixed. When heated to
130...140 °C petrolatum turns into a mobile liquid in which is immersed
dry wood. In the wood, the moisture turns to steam and
removed. In petrolatum wood is dried several times faster (a few
hours) than in the drying chambers, and the material does not crack and does not
warp.
