Chemical formula: HOOC−COOH. Belong to a strong organic acids. Possesses all chemical properties characteristic of carboxylic acids. Salts and esters of oxalic acid are called oxalates. In nature, found in sorrel, rhubarb, the cannon, and some other plants in free form or in the form of oxalates of potassium and calcium.
