Acetone (dimethylketone, 2-propanone)[1] is an organic substance having the formula CH3-C(O)-CH3, the simplest representative of saturated ketones.
Its name acetone received from lat. acetum vinegar. This is due to the fact that earlier acetone were obtained from acetates, and of the acetone received synthetic glacial acetic acid.
