Fluoroplast - 4 is a unique material, obtained by chemical means. It is extremely among the polymers chemical resistance. Fluoroplast - 4 and fluoroplastic copolymer - 4D stands to all mineral and organic acids, alkalis, organic solvents, oxidizing agents with the exception of melts and solutions of alkali metals, elemental fluorine and chlorine TRIFLUORIDE at elevated temperatures.
Along with phenomenal inertness of the fluoroplastic - 4 is characterized by relatively low density, excellent electrical and mechanical properties. Good mechanical strength of PTFE is maintained in the temperature range from – 190°to +250°C. PTFE has low and almost temperature-independent coefficient of friction, is completely hydrophobic, physiologically inert.
Dielectric properties of PTFE do not change up to 200°C, a chemical – up to 300°C. These material properties make PTFE products indispensable in the chemical, electrotechnical industry, instrument making, machine building, nuclear power, food, light and medical industries.
