Barium sulfate
Barium sulfate is used in analytical chemistry,
pyrotechnics, as a radiopaque material, as well as white
a pigment - filler for paints and whitewash.
Also the barium was serniceswere used to
a variety of industrial purposes: as the filler for photo and writing paper,
for linoleum and for some coating materials (barite) as a white
filler for plastics and as a component of drilling fluids for
increase their density, in the electrochemical industry in the manufacture of
lead-acid battery as an extender of the active mass of the negative
electrode, the production of a paste for etching glass, in the manufacture of
some refractory materials.
Barium sulfate is one of the components of mixtures used as white pigments for paints and whitewash.
It is non-toxic to the body substance in
unlike all soluble barium salts, which is why it is possible
use as a radiopaque substance.
In analytical chemistry it is used as a good gravimetric form to
determination of sulfate ions and barium ions in gravimetric analysis.
Also barium sulfate is used for various industrial purposes:
- as filler for photo and writing paper, for linoleum and some paint and varnish materials (barite);
- as a white filler for plastics and as component of drilling fluids to increase their density;
- in the electrochemical production lead-acid battery as an extender of the active mass of the negative electrode;
- in the manufacture of pastes for the etching of glass;
- in the manufacture of certain refractory materials.
