Sodium stearate (sodium stearinovokisly)
Sodium stearate is a chemical compound of sodium and stearic acid with the formula NaC18H35O2, colorless crystals, weakly soluble in cold water, good - hot, crystalline forms.
Obtained by neutralization of an alcoholic solution of stearic acid sodium hydroxide.
Sodium stearate, forms colorless rhombic crystals crystal system, space group P bam, the unit cell parameters a = 0,804 nm, b = 0,924 nm c = 5,117 nm, Z = 8.
Slightly soluble in cold water, good - hot, soluble in ethanol.
Forms a crystalline composition NaC18H35O2 • ½H2O. With stearic acid forms the acid salt form of NaH (C17H35COO) 2.
Is a white powder with almost no odor. Bad soluble in cold water, insoluble in most organic solvents, soluble in alcohol, hot water. Anionic PAIRS.
The substance is non-toxic and safe to use.
Main application:
- In the manufacture of detergents, a component of soap, shampoo, hair dyes.
- Additive in tooth pastes, cosmetic creams.
- In the manufacture of polyolefins, rubbers and rubber in the dry construction mixtures, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals.
- Thickener greases, stabilizer and lubricant during the formation of polyamides.
- Antispinward additive in the food industry.
- Antispyw in surfactants.
- How nucleoli agent in the processing thermoplastics.
- As a lubricant in the paper industry.
- Used in the production of polyolefins, rubbers and rubber.
- In production of dry construction mixtures.
In the production of cosmetics.
- In the pharmaceutical industry.
It is the main component of some kinds of soap, especially of animal fat. Included in many types of solid deodorants, rubbers, latex paints, inks. It is also a component of certain food additives and food flavours used in pharmaceutical industry as surface-active substance.
The substance is non-toxic and safe to use. Store in a closed container; in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
