Chloride Nickel
Chloride of Nickel (II) NiCl2.
Is a shiny Golden-yellow rhombohedral crystals, melting point=1001°C, boiling point=1627°C, density is 3.53 g/cm3 (anhydrous).
Soluble in water, alcohol, ether. Is transformed into NiO by calcination in air or oxygen. Is reduced by hydrogen when heated. Molar conductivity infinite dilution at 25 °C is equal 260,7 Cm·cm2/mol. Get action chlorine is heated to 600-800°C, the Nickel, the dehydration of the crystalline NiCl2·пН2О (n=1, 2, 4, 6, 7).
Used in electroplating; as a catalyst-carrier of the chlorine with the participation of Hcl or Cl2. It turns out at combustion of powder Ni in the current Сl2. Physical properties. Golden-yellow hygroscopic crystals. Wash. at 970°; tight. To 3.55 g/cm3 (anhydrous); solution in water and 59.5 g/100 g (10), forms a series of crystalline hydrates.
Nickel dichloride, 6-water NiCl2 • 6H2O (Nickel chloride(II), 6-water) is used:
· as a component of electrolytes for refining of Ni and a Nickel,
· to obtain powder of Ni,
· as the catalyst the chlorination of organic compounds
