Ionol, an butylhydroxytoluene, dibunol, Agidol-1, BHT— 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methyl-phenol, a lipophilic organic material, representative of the class of phenolsthat are widely used in chemical industry as antioxidant.
Technical ionol — yellow powder, pure the form of a white powder. Used as antioxidant in food products (food additive E321), lubricating oils, rubbers, plastics etc. Also is the original compound for the synthesis of various derivatives of the spatial hindered phenols, many of which have biological activity or find application in the industry. Soluble in the isopentane, benzene, alcohol, acetone, esters, fats. Insoluble in water.
