Potassium chloride

Potassium chloride is Е508 white substance with a crystalline structure, no characteristic odour. In nature can be found in the composition of Silvinit, and the minerals carnallite and Silvina. Has a pronounced salty taste. Е508 additive soluble in the water, but almost insoluble in alcohol. The melting point reaches 770С. The substance boils at a temperature 1407С.

Application
The potassium chloride in the food industry is used as stabilizer in the production of condensed milk, cream, dried milk and dried cream. Often Supplement Е508 appears as a salt substitute in the diet. In addition, food additive E-508 used as a nutrient medium for yeast cultures. Potassium chloride is widely used for medical purposes in the treatment of disorders heart rhythm and strengthening the heart, with a lack of potassium in the body, intoxication with the introduction of diuretics and cardiac glycosides.
