Citrate calcium

Citrate calcium (Citrate calcium) is the calcium salt of citric acid. Represents virtually no soluble in cold water white powder odourless. As citric acid, calcium citrate has a sour taste, with a salty taste.

Calcium citrate is an intermediate product in obtaining citric acid during the fermentation process, by which citric acid is produced in industry. When the interaction of citric acid with calcium hydroxide insoluble get "dirty" calcium citrate, which is then filtered from the rest of the substances washed and get calcium citrate in a pure form. When you add in the received calcium citrate dilute sulfuric acid in industry get a lemon acid.

Citrate calcium is used:

- Medicines intended for to normalize the level of calcium in the body. Also calcium citrate is used in osteoporosis, rickets, hypoparathyroidism, and latent tetany. It can be used in the prevention of calcium deficiency during pregnancy, in the period lactation, during menopause.

- Calcium citrate is widely used in the food industry as binder the product color, acidity regulator, a preservative and stabilizer. As a stabilizer it is used in manufacture of condensed milk, processed cheese and cream. As a regulator acidity calcium citrate is added to canned fruit, jam, jam, jelly and pudding. Additive is great for additional saturation with calcium milk and dairy products, soft drinks, bread and pastries.

Also calcium citrate is used in as a water softener because the citrate ions of calcium can heliroute unwanted metal ions.
