Alginate sodium

Alginate sodium salt of alginic acid with the chemical formula (C6H7O6Na)n. Alginic acid and alginates used in the food industry and medicine (as a antacid).

Sodium alginate was in the food industry as food supplements E401, used as a thickener and stabilizer.

Sodium alginate is a powder white(beige) color without smell and taste. In fact it is a polysaccharide extracted from some species of brown algae.

Combines with water, sodium alginate it forms thermally irreversible gel, i.e. the gel, is not able to solubilisates (to liquefy and dissolve).

This property of the gel just alginate is used in the masks that freeze in a few minutes after contact with skin, forming an impenetrable air and moisture barrier. Because of such properties of alginate masks prevent the loss of moisture and contribute to a better penetration of active substances.

Sodium alginate in cosmetic industry used as an emulsifier, stabilizer, film former, and a conditioning component. cosmetic ingredient with emulsifying (thickening) and stabilizing properties.

· The viscosity regulator for deodorants (ball)

· Skin moisturizer in skin cosmetics

· Conditioning agent in rinses and shampoos

· Softening agent in soap
