Hydroxyethylcellulose

Hydroxyethyl – cellulose derivative, a nonionic water-soluble polymer used in cosmetic formulas to achieve viscosity and durability of emulsions.

Hydroxyethylcellulose is a white and yellowish-white substance, easily soluble in cold or hot water education solutions with a wide viscosity range. Can sagomate, suspend, bind, emulsify, form films, stabilize, disperse, retain water and provide protective colloid impact. Thanks naivnomu nature, has a wide range of compatibility with other products, such as emulsion polymers, natural and synthetic resins, emulsifiers and defoaming means.

Get the hydroxyethyl cellulose of cotton or wood interaction of cellulose (monomer of glucose, a natural polysaccharide) ethylene oxide with 60-100 ᵒС in the presence of aqueous NaOH (in some processes – in the presence of organic solvents, eg. secondary or tertiary alcohols, dioxane, petroleum ether).

Hydroxyl groups of glucose are replaced by groups hydroxyethyl ether.

Hydroxyethylcellulose was as an Additive Е1525. It white with yellow shade loose powder (granules) odourless and tasteless. It soluble in hot and in cold water. The additive may form solutions of different viscosity. Different non-ionic character, has compatible with emulsion polymers, natural and synthetic resins, with the emulsifiers and antiseptiruyuschimi agents.

Additive is hydroxyethylcellulose E 1525 is a monomer glucose, a natural polysaccharide. Used as additives for improvement of various food products, such as water-retaining and film-forming agent, stabilizer. However, in practice, additive E-1525 for production food mostly does not apply. The additive is used in medicine in an effective laxative, and also in various medicinal drugs.

Hydroxyethyl cellulose adjust viscosity of the product and acts as a stabilizer of emulsions. Used in the production mouthwashes, shampoos and gels for hair. Supplement is used as binder and moisture retention agent for toothpastes. Film-forming ability to evenly distribute substances of consuming UV radiation in the means of protection from the sun. Hydroxyethyl cellulose does not irritate the skin and is suitable for hypoalergenic products (baby creams and lotions). Used in the production of decorative cosmetics such as liquid Foundation powder, eye shadow, etc treatment of underground reservoirs of oil and gas wells hydroxyethyl used in the composition of viscoelastic fluids (foamed and emulsified liquids with high viscosity) for hydraulic fracturing of underground formations and etc.

One of the advantages of supplements is environmental harmlessness, it is biodegradable and does not form harmful substances. Is fibrous and water soluble substance that reduces the feeling hunger, helps in digestion. Promotes the stimulation of work of the gastrointestinal tract. Hydroxyethyl Е1525 not included in the list food additives allowed for food production. Supplement Е1525 considered safe for use in cosmetic industry.
