Methoxypropanol

Methoxypropanol contains a small amount of 2-methoxy-1-propanol. It is a colorless neutral liquid with a faint pleasant smell, which in any proportions mixed with water and organic solvents. In some cases, instead methoxypropanol can buy R5 10, or ethylglycol because they have similar properties. It's hard enough volatile substance, and when used as a solvent component of paints and printing inks improves the wettability of certain pigments and dyes. It has good solvent capacity with respect to the nitrocellulose, the chlorinated rubber, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinylbutyral, ketone and ketone-formaldehyde resins, shellac, rosin, phenol-, melamine - and carb- malvorlagen resins, alkyd resins, polyacrylates, polymethacrylates, castor and linseed oils, copolymers of vinyl chloride. As well as acetone as solvent it does not dissolve kopalova resin, rubber, acetate cellulose, polystyrene, polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl chloride.

Thanks a faint pleasant smell methoxypropanol extremely suitable for use in nitrocellulose lacquers designed for coating wood, paper and metal. Being moderately volatile solvent, it improves the permeability ink, flow properties and gloss of the paint coating; also it prevents clouding and the formation of such surface defects like bubbles and the effect fisheye. So when it is used as solvent R-646, material is a very important part of successful operation. Add methoxypropanol does not increase the drying time of the paint systems. It increases the solubility in an inexpensive solvent, reduces and stabilizes viscosity paint and improve coverts properties of the ink. Methoxypropanol is very weak swelling of the paint coating, so it contributes to the application of layers of paint on the previous layers of coating. It is used as a solvent in printing inks (flexographic, Rotogravure in the packaging) to improve gloss and fluidity. Thanks to the good solvent properties with respect to dyes and ability to wet the pigments it enhances the color of printing inks.
