Orthoxylene

Orthoxylene is a petroleum product, consisting which combination of a number of volatile organic compounds. It is a transparent liquid with a characteristic odor, is flammable. Orthoxylene is used to dissolve chlorinated rubber nitrocellulose and various polymers, among which the epoxy vinyl, acrylic and silicone, they diluted melamine - and mochevinoformaldegidnye materials. Orthoxylene is also used for degreasing of various surfaces, and the composition of paint materials he can replace solvent oil. These properties lead to its application in the field of paint production, moreover, this product is popular in organic synthesis.

Physico-chemical characteristics of the orthoxylene – transparent liquid without impurities, the color of which should not be darker than a reference solution of 0.003 g К2Сг2О7 in 1 dm3 of water. The density of a substance must be of 0.878-0,880 g/CC at 20°C. the Content of the basic substance is not less of 99.2%. The crystallization temperature should not be below -25,5°C, and temperature limits of distillation 5% to 95% - not more than 0.4°C. Bromine number ortoxylol, measured in grams of bromine per 100 ml of product should not to exceed 0,18 G.

Being a flammable liquid, orthoxylene needs be stored and transported in appropriate conditions. Keeping it is carried out in a tightly closed container, avoiding direct sun exposure rays, avoiding proximity to heating devices. All work with the orthoxylene should be carried out in a well ventilated area.
