Mafia game invented in the spring of 1986, a student of the faculty of psychology of Moscow state University Dmitry Davydov, a native of Kamensk-Uralsky. First played in hostels, classrooms and corridors of Moscow state University, but after some students the University spent their holidays in summer camps, where the rest of students and other Soviet universities, the game along with new players became to spread to other educational institutions of the USSR.
After graduating from the University Dmitry remained at MSU to teach psychology for international students (mainly from the socialist countries), and some of them return home, they spread the seeds "Мафииraquo; abroad, first in Europe (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Belgium, UK, Norway).
The first appearance of the game quot;Мафияraquo; documented in the U.S. 1989, at a summer camp in Pennsylvania.
According to the author, who moved in 1991 in Boston, the game is based on cultural-historical theory of the Soviet psychologist 1920-ies HP Vygotsky.
