Citric acid is widely used as a flavoring, acidity regulator and a preservative in the food industry (food additives E330-E), for the production of beverages, dry fizzy drinks.
In cosmetic products is used as acidity regulator, a buffer, a chelating agent, for the effervescent compositions (bath).
In the oil industry in drilling oil and gas wells used for neutralization of cement in solution (for example, after cutting with a cement bridge). Citric acid removes calcium ions from the drilling mud.
