Acetoxy silanes are more reactive than alkoxysilanes. Dynasylan BDAC is often used in one-component mixtures to obtain RTV-1 silicone sealants. Such mixtures containing in excess of a multi acetoxy group, add in polydimethylsiloxane fluid (PDMS), which has a terminal silanol group. The result is formation of PDMS chains with acetoxy groups at the ends. When exposed to moisture of acetoxy groups and hydrolyzes semicondensed or reacts with other acetoxy-groups, allowing for quick stitching. The formed acetic acid is one of the driving forces of this reaction.
