Features properties of copper tube:
- heat the coefficient of linear expansion (CTE) of copper is 0.017 (mm/m*K), which is 6...8 times lower than that of polymers;
- the copper conductivity of 394 (W /m*K) i.e. 4 times higher than steel;
- copper resistant to UV radiation;
- copper the pipes are absolutely impervious to gases;
- copper has a bactericidal action;
- the range the operating temperature of copper pipes is very wide ― from minus 200 to plus 500 °C;
- copper pipes do not freeze in water-filled condition unlike steel, because of the plasticity of copper - copper does not corrode in normal water.
- copper tubes do not age and do not deteriorate. Over time, they are covered with a thin oxide layer (patina), which does not affect their strength.
Thanks to the remarkable properties of the copper pipe perfectly established in the pipelines of heating, hot and cold water, oil pipelines, gas pipelines, compressed air pipes, steam, liquid hydrocarbons (gasoline, diesel fuel, etc.), refrigerants, refrigeration installations and air conditioning.
Pipes of copper is very economical: they are easy to cut and bend. Technique copper pipes are lightweight and reliable. The most common technique connection is a capillary brazing. This method based on the capillary effect, the essence of which is that when a certain distance between the walls of two surfaces the liquid will rise up the capillary against the force of gravity. This effect allows solder (recommended ― silver-bronze, but in any case not lead) evenly spread over the entire surface regardless of the position of the pipe (you can, for example, to apply the solder at the bottom). For the experienced installer of copper pipe and fittings ― this is the best working materials because they :
- equally suitable for equipment new and old buildings
- easy to processing on any building site: when rounding of corners, holes and other possible
- provides easy and quick installation,
- do not require a lot of space in storage,
- have appearance on the exposed surfaces.
The copper pipes lower coefficient of roughness Cs = 1,5...2)*10^-6 m than steel (CABG = 200-10^-6) and polymer (Cs = 8*10^-6) pipes. It increases capacity and allows to use tubes of small diameter.
