water. From aqueous solution crystallizes blue pentahydrate CuSO4·5H2O
is copper sulphate. The toxicity of copper sulfate to warm-blooded

fish.
The hydration reaction of anhydrous copper sulfate(II) exothermic and takes place with considerable evolution of heat.
In nature it occurs in the form of minerals chalcanthite (CuSO4·5H2O),
chalcogenide (CuSO4), banatica (CuSO4·3H2O), butit (CuSO4·7H2O) and in
other minerals.
Has antibacterial, antiseptic, astringent properties.
Used in medicine, in crop production as an antiseptic, a fungicide or
copper-sulfur fertilizer.
