Carbamide (Urea) is a highly efficient granular fertilizer, containing in assimilable form are necessary for the growth and development of plants nutrient nitrogen (46%). Urea is the most concentrated of nitrogen fertilizers. Urea in the soil is converted under the action of enzymes of soil bacteria into ammonium carbonate. In soils with high biological activity, the urea is converted into ammonium carbonate for 2 – 3 days. Ammonium carbonate decomposes in the air and part of it is lost as gaseous ammonia. Therefore, surface application of urea without incorporation into the soil is fraught with loss of nitrogen. Moreover, at neutral and alkaline soils loss of nitrogen may be more significant.
