Shellac is a natural resin.
Shellac contains aneuretinae acid, dihydroxyfumarate acid, hellolove acid, shellac wax (5 %), water, a water-soluble pigment. The melting point of 80-120 °C. it is soluble in alkaline solutions and in lower aliphatic alcohols, slightly in benzene and almost insoluble in gasoline, fats and oils.
