Vladimir Besleaga Pain
Vladimir Besleaga was born 25 July 1931 in the village of straja, Cabana (now Grigoriopol district). In 1955 he graduated from the State University of Moldova. He began his literary career as author of stories for adults and for children. More than twenty years worked in the offices of journals of the Moldavian SSR. The first collections of his short stories appeared in 1956, 1959, 1963 and 1964. Since 1965 — member of the Union of writers of Moldova[1]. All-Union fame brought, Besleaga the novel "the cry of the swift", released by publishing house "Soviet writer" in translation on Russian language in 1969.
In 1978 Vladimir Besleaga received the State prize of the Moldavian SSR in the field of literature, art and architecture for his second novel "the House" (ROM. Acasă). This novel was also released in Russian by the publishing house "Soviet writer". In the following years came the novels "Pain," "Ignatz and Anna", "Blood on snow", "Grandson". The works of Vladimir Besleaga translated into many languages of the former USSR.
Berlage proved himself as an artistic interpreter. His translation was published in the Moldavian language works of Leo Tolstoy, Turgenev, and Harriet Beecher Stowe, "Daphnis and Chloe" long, "Praise of folly" by Erasmus of Rotterdam and others In the early 1990-ies he was a member of the Parliament of Moldova. Currently works as the chief editor of the newspaper "Nistru"[1].
