Graphite powder is used in metallurgical production in the carburization of iron and steel. The aim of the process of carburizing iron - reducing the amount of iron contained in the mixture for the assay furnace, thereby reducing it. This technology is important for domestic practice, as scrap, about 1.5 times cheaper than cast iron. Consumption of artificial graphite milled about 3.5 kg/ton of produced pig iron allows you to increase the carbon content of pig iron 0,30-0,35% and get an iron with a carbon content of 3.3-3.5 per cent.

The carburizing period is characterized by growing content in the metal and carbon slight decrease in the amount of carbon.

For graphite powder obtain really high quality, in the production of iron and steel as a deoxidizing agents and nowheresville are used as natural materials and wastes electrode and metallurgy - powder, powdered graphite.

To carbonization used in the production of iron and steel must meet certain requirements:

 

High carbon content

Low impurity content
