Size coffee beans plays a vital role in determining his grade — it is believed that the larger the grain, the ripe berry was from which it received, and accordingly, the better the infusion of coffee from the grain. Grain coffee is sorted by size using multiple grids with cells different size:
sieve No. 20 — the cell is greater than 8 mm — a very large grain;
sieve No. 18 — cell 7.146 mm — large grains.
