The process of water softening is based on the exchange ions of hardness salts (calcium and magnesium) with sodium ions (from common table salt) during filtration of water through the volume of ion exchange resin. The regeneration of the resin is carried out by washing with a solution of salt (NaCl) in automatic mode. For reagent solution preparation it is recommended to use salt tablets or table food coarse salt that contains no iodine. During the installation service required monitoring for a sufficient amount of salt in the tank for reagent solution preparation. Flushing typically includes four stages:
- backwash (bottom-up)
- chemical recovery (passage of the reagent through the layer of filter material)
- direct flushing (top-down)
- filling the tank with reagent
Dirty water when washing is discharged into the sewer. After completion of all cycles of washing, the filter enters normal filtration. Start flushing may be appointed by a timer, external light and water meter.
