Tin (chemical symbol is Sn;lat. Stannum) is the element of the 14th groupof the periodic table of chemical elements (for outdated classification — the main subgroup of group IV), the fifth period, with atomic number50[3]. Belongs to the group of light metals. Under normal conditions , a simple substance of tin is ductile, malleable and easily fusible shiny metal with a silvery-white color. Tin forms three allotropes modification: +13,2 °C is stable α-tin (gray tin) with cubiclattice type diamond, above +13,2 °C stable β-tin (white tin) with a tetragonal crystal lattice[2]. γ-Tin — white, in the temperature range of 161°C—232 °C (melting point) metal is brittle.
