Barium chloride dihydrate, barium chloride BaCl2·2H2O. Colorless rhombic
crystals, soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in
the ether.
APPLICATION:
Barium chloride is widely used:
- in the chemical industry: barium chloride dihydrate is used
to obtain barium salts, reactive drugs, in the production
dyes, in the purification of brine from chromates and sulfates;
- mechanical engineering and metal processing: for hardening high-speed
tools, heat treatment products, hot
extrusion of metals, cyanide leaching of parts;
- in non-ferrous metallurgy - for obtaining ultra-pure magnesium and aluminum;
- in agriculture for pest control, etc.
