Is a fine green powder. It has high hiding power, light, heat, weather resistance and resistance to corrosive gases. Chromium oxide is insoluble in water, difficultly soluble in acids and alkalis, easily oxidized molten oxidizing agents (nitrates, perchlorates), by air in the presence of alkalis, hot solutions of some oxidants. Has a hardness of corundum, quartz scratch.
The melting point 2435° C, boiling point approx. 4000° C, the density of 5.21 g/cm3.
Depending on the scope of chromium oxide technical available in the following grades and varieties:
Pigment - varieties Tou-1 and Tou-2;
Metallurgical grades of Ohm-0 and Km-1;
Abrasive varieties of Ohm-0, Km-1 and Km-2.
Applications:
Pigment in the paint industry for the manufacture of primers, paints and enamels (including heat-resistant), as well as for the production of art and printing inks of different types, coloring of plastics, glass enamels, etc., In the production of building materials as a pigment;
Metallurgical - in the metallurgical industry for the production of chromium metal, abrasive materials and in the production of refractories;
Abrasive - in clock, instrument, machine building and other industries for polishing.
