Freon R12 refers to a group of chlorofluorocarbons. Colorless gas with a specific smell. One of the most widespread and safe in operation refrigerants. Not explosive, at t 330 °C, decomposes with formation of hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride and traces of poisonous gas - phosgene. Characterized by fluidity, which facilitates its penetration through the smallest leaks. At the same time thanks to high fluidity, freon R 12 refrigeration oils penetrate through all rubbing parts, reducing wear. When volume concentration in the air exceeds 30 %, asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen. Oil soluble, slightly soluble in water. Used in single-stage refrigerating machines with condensation temperature not exceeding 75 °C and a boiling point of not lower than -30 °C in domestic refrigerators, air conditioners. Replace refrigerant : R 134 a, R401b, R401c, R406а, R413a, R600a.
