Chives Allium schoenoprasum - plant Bush - 10pcs
Chives - a perennial plant of the onion. The leaves are narrow, awl-shaped, length 25-40 cm long false bulb oblong-ovoid, 2-4 cm long and 0.5— 1.0 cm in diameter, smoothly into the false stem. In the Bush the bulbs are flush with each other, the roots intertwine, forming in the soil a continuous sod cover.
Biological features
Chives are very hardy, not freeze solid even in the far North. Grows early in the spring, shoots tolerate frosts to -3...-4 °C. On one place can grow up to 10 years, but the highest yield obtained when grown in two-, three-year culture. Shoots much branched, forming in the fourth year of life more than 50 branches. From 4-5 the first year of life shoots and leaves are shrinking, the number of arrows increases, plant productivity decreases. Snitt blooms in the second year of life. Floral arrows thin, reach 30-50 cm in height. Inflorescences small, spherical, with pink, lilac and purple (rarely white) flowers. Seeds are formed starting from the second year of life, remain viable for 1 to 2 years.
Agriculture and breeding
Chives can be grown in annual, biennial and perennial culture. It is propagated by vegetative (dividing the Bush), sowing seeds in the soil and seedlings. Vegetative reproduction old bushes is divided into parts (planting units), consisting of 4-5 branches. When preparing them for planting the leaves and roots are pruned (the height of the branches from the stems to the top 15 cm and root length is 5-8 cm).
