Museum of Western and Oriental art in Kiev – via of highly artistic value, sometimes unique items rightfully belong to best collections foreign art of our country. The beginning of the collection was spouses are supposed to, B. I. and V. N. Khanenko, a famous Ukrainian collectors. In 1919 on the basis of their collection and was established the current Museum, which since 1936 has become the name of the Kiev Museum of Western and Oriental art. The exhibits come from other museums and from nationalized private collections. In 1925 -1926 years the Museum was given a valuable a collection of paintings by the famous St. Petersburg collector V. Bearing. It consisted of about 200 paintings of mainly Dutch masters. To the beginning of WWII the collection has tripled. In the postwar years was staffed East Department. The present publication is quite wide and fully introduces a collection of one of the largest in the Soviet Union of the treasures of Western and Oriental art. The album consists of three sections – antique, West-European and East art, which presents works of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Byzantium, and Italy of the XIV – XIX centuries, the Netherlands XVII century France of the XV – XIX centuries. China, Japan, Iran, Central Asia etc. the Album provided an introductory article on the history of the collection, as well as comments on each reproduction analyzing the product telling about the artist and his time traditions that nourished his creativity.
