Flange - a flat piece with evenly spaced holes for bolts and pins used as connecting elements for joining pipes together and also for attaching individual sections of the transport system to the equipment, apparatus, machines, containers, shafts. Flanges are used in pairs, i.e. a set.
The basic types of flanges:
- flanges according to GOST 12820-80;
- collar flanges under GOST 12821-80;
- loose flanges (mounting ring), according to GOST 12822-80
Flanges – a wide ring with a small protrusions of a cylindrical shape. The inner diameter of this type of connecting elements is slightly greater than the external diameter of the pipe, due to this, the fastening is carried out by fixing one part to another, and then welding the two seams. Ru of 0.1-2.5 MPa, DN 10-2400 mm.
2. Neck flanges – flat are different from those that have a long cone-shaped protrusion. Pipe and flange in this case have the same inner diameter, so that a welding connection is made at the butt. This method provides higher strength and integrity. Ru, of 0.1-20 MPa, DN 10-1600 mm.
3. Loose flanges (mounting ring) – items consisting of two elements. To the end hole of the pipe is welded to the ring, and the flange remains in the free state, easily butted with the response elements without rotation of the tube. Ru 01-2,5 MPa, DN 10-500 mm.
